Antique American Silver Ewer

A magnificent Silver Water Jug / Ewer made by John Chandler Moore for Allcock & Allen of New York. The body of the jug is of baluster form with castellated leaf embellished rim, leaf –caped ornate scroll handles with leafy junctions, the body is embossed with panels depicting a castle and a dog running among rushes, all among ornate foliate scrolls around a plain central scrolling cartouche. The Jug is raised on a leaf embellished circular base and the underside is engraved “Christopher Wolfe, John Wolfe, Christopher Wolfe Jr.,John Wolfe, John Wolfe Jr. The Jug hold approximately 5.5 English pints
